February 4, 2006

Turin

The Olympic Truce is a historic tradition of the Olympic games dating back to the ancient Greeks, which was to end all wars during the Olympic period to allow all competitors to travel to Olympia for the games, despite any wars that might have been on at the time. Therefore, on the occasion of the Olympic and Paralympic Games held in Turin in 2006, and with the framework of the Olympic Truce, The World Political Forum and the Regione Piemonte organized an international round table on the themes of peace and war.

The meeting focused on the effects of conflicts on territories and civil populations.  Mutual knowledge of people, diffusion of a culture of peace and prevention of conflicts: which role for politics?

Peace Nobel Prizes, scholars, operators discussed about it. Other personalities of international level took part in the open debate that followed the round table.
