Twenty Years after: The World(s) beyond the Wall
9-10 October 2009
Bosco Marengo, WPF Seat
Twenty years after the historic Fall of the Berlin Wall, some figures among the major ones of that delicate political moment, but also experts and historians who studied its causes and effects, gathered in the seat of the WPF in Bosco Marengo, to study the historical consequences of that event.
Ideal follow-up of the meeting held in 2005 “1985-2005: Twenty Years that Changed the World“, this conference aimed at producing a deep analysis of the current world political situation, in the light of the path that from 1989 led to the present situation. The disappearance of the strong opposition between the two powers of the cold war, that represented a political and military deterrence, brought a very different reorganization of international politics, with obvious influence on the current equilibriums of world forces.
The meeting analysed the passages that from the fall of the wall led to the current balances, and the indications that from that lesson of the past can be taken in reshaping the world governance today.
