Michel Camdessus

He was Managing Director of the International Monetary Found, from 1987 until 2000. He worked for the French Ministry of Finance and Economic Policies in 1960, and then served as Financial Attaché to the French Delegation at the European Economic Community in Brussels. In 1968 he returned to the Treasury, where he became Director in 1982. In that period he also served as Chairman of the Paris Club, and was Chairman of the European Monetary Committee. In 1983 he was appointed Alternate Governor of the IMF for France and Governor of the IMF in 1984. In November 1984, Michel Camdessus was appointed Governor of the Bank of France, where he stayed until 1987. He actually is  Honorary Governor of the Bank of France and he is a member of the Commission for Africa established by Tony Blair.
