The World Political Forum took part in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Denmark to submit to the attention of the participants the Memorandum for a World Water Protocol which has been elaborated by the international conference «Peace with Water», held in February 2009 in collaboration with the European Parliament Groups.

Turin, Palazzo Lascaris
The Regional Council of Piedmont and the World Political Forum organized in Turin a public discussion on the theme: “1989 - Year of the political Earthquake in Europe”. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the popular revolutions which have transformed the political landscape in Eastern Europe, this event provided an occasion to reflect on the sources and driving forces of these historic changes.

Twenty years after the historic Fall of the Berlin Wall, some figures among the major ones of that delicate political moment, but also experts and historians who studied its causes and effects, gathered in the seat of the WPF in Bosco Marengo, to study the historical consequences of that event.

Turin, Torino Esposizioni
“Energy for a Sustainable Future”, was held on 8 October 2009 within the frame of the initiatives “Joining our Energies” and “Biennial of Eco-Efficiency”, promoted by the Region of Piedmont. It focused around the subjects related to the role and importance of energetic resources for the checkerboard of international politics and global governance, but even for their concrete applications on the single territories.

A two-day conference on nuclear disarmament, “Overcoming Nuclear Dangers” was co-sponsored by the World Political Forum, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nuclear Security Project (the initiative of George P. Shultz, Sam Nunn, Henry A. Kissinger and William J. Perry) and held at the Farnesina, in Rome.

The Conference “Peace with Water”, held at the European Parliament on 12 and 13 February 2009, has been organized by The World Political Forum, together with the Groups of the European Parliament, basing on a proposal of the Institut Europeen sur la Politique de l’Eau (IERPE, Belgium).

Set in the Monumental Complex of Santa Croce in Bosco Marengo, institutional seat of the WPF, the conference “Human Rights and Democracy in a Globalized World” was intended to be an occasion for meeting and debate with the aim of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Venice, San Servolo island
The international conference “Environment: From Global Warnings to Media Alert” was promoted by the WPF together with the Province of Venice and the Ministry for Environment.
Journalists and news executives from 29 countries representing six continents met in San Servolo (Venice), Italy, on October 10 and 11 to challenge the international media to improve public understanding of the impact of climate change.

The famous report “The Limits to Growth” issued by the Club of Rome in 1972, as well as other warnings formulated in other reports and documents reflected the voices of the scientific community, of the ecologist movements and the civil society, that were worried about the dramatic consequences of an uncontrolled human activity and of a chaotic economic development, for the future of humanity and the state of health of our planet.

The international conference “Overcoming Nuclear Danger“ took place on December 2007 at Harvard University in Cambridge, in occasion of the 20th anniversary of the INF (Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces) Treaty, signed by the Presidents Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan for the elimination of the intermediate-range nuclear arms.
